After not really doing much of any exercise all through her childhood, Helen started doing yoga in her late teens because she read in some beauty magazine that it would make her taller. Well, it didn't.
After a complete exercise hiatus while completing college and graduate school in chemistry, she got hooked on high-intensity exercise as a means of managing her physical and especially her mental health. Helen returned to her yoga practice when she moved to Moscow and found a home at Nourish Yoga. She found that the combination of mindful movement and self-study brought a peace and equanimity to her life that she hadn't found in other forms of exercise no matter how much she sweated or how hard she pushed herself.
After deciding that she wanted to share yoga with others, Helen received her RYT-200 under the tutelage of Neesha Zollinger (E-RYT-500, Certified Anusara Instructor) and Nancy Burtenshaw (E-RYT-500, Anusara Inspired Instructor) in July of 2016. She has been teaching ever since! In Helen's classes, expect to find more advanced poses such as deep backbends, soaring arm balances, and challenging standing poses incorporated into flow sequences, often working in a ladder flow style. Modifications are always provided to help students find their fullest expression of the pose and sink deep into the wisdom of the body. When she isn't doing yoga, teaching yoga, or dreaming of yoga, Helen enjoys growing vegetables, knitting, hiking, and playing with her pugs.
